Engraving & personalisation

How does engraving work when I order online?

On products that offer engraving, you will see a text field on the product page with a character limit. What you type is what we use for production—please double-check spelling, dates, and initials before you add to cart. Each piece is engraved by hand, so your text is crafted to match the product’s design.

Why is the character limit different on some products?

Limits depend on the item and the engraving style (for example initials on a small signet versus a longer message on a larger tag). The product page always shows the allowed maximum for that specific piece.

Can I use symbols, punctuation, or emojis?

Basic punctuation and symbols that you can type on a standard keyboard are usually fine. Emojis and special Unicode characters may not reproduce reliably in hand engraving and are best avoided unless we have confirmed otherwise.

What if I made a mistake in my engraving text?

Because personalised and engraved items are made to your instructions, we cannot accept returns for incorrect text that was submitted at checkout. If you notice an error immediately after ordering, contact us straight away at hello@theengraver.co—we will help if production has not yet started.

Will hand engraving look exactly like a computer preview?

Hand engraving has natural variation in depth, spacing, and finish. That is part of the character of a handmade piece and is not considered a defect. If something arrives damaged or not as ordered, contact us and we will work with you under Australian Consumer Law.

Materials & products

What metals do you use?

Each product page lists the material for that item (for example solid 925 sterling silver). Always read the description for the exact metal and finish before you buy.

Do you sell variants (sizes or colours) for the same design?

Some products offer variants such as size or style. When variants exist, you can choose them on the product page before adding to cart. If you need something that is not listed, email us and we can advise what is possible.

Orders, production & account

How long until my order ships?

Many pieces are made or finished to order, especially when engraved. Typical dispatch is within a few business days unless the product page or checkout states otherwise. You will receive updates by email for confirmed orders where applicable.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Contact us as soon as possible. Once personalisation or production has started, changes may not be possible. We will always be clear about what we can do for your situation.

Do I need an account to shop?

You can browse without signing in. Creating an account lets you save details and view order history after purchase. Checkout may still ask for delivery and contact information either way.

Shipping & delivery

Is there free shipping?

Orders over $150 (AUD) qualify for free shipping within Australia where our checkout and banners advertise that offer. Smaller orders are charged at the rate shown at checkout.

Do you ship outside Australia?

Our site is priced in Australian dollars. If you need international delivery, email hello@theengraver.co with your location and the items you want, and we will advise if we can ship and what it will cost.

Returns, gifts & packaging

What is your return policy for engraved items?

Customised and engraved pieces generally cannot be returned for change of mind. Non-custom items may be eligible within 14 days if unused and in original packaging. Full conditions—including faults and Australian Consumer Law—are on our Return & exchange Policy page.

Can I send a piece as a gift?

Yes. Use the recipient’s shipping address at checkout. If you would like a gift message or discreet packaging, mention it in your order notes or email us with your order number and we will do our best to accommodate.
